NO ROOM AT THE INN

ree

Scripture: “And she brought forth her firstborn son, and wrapped him in swaddling clothes, and laid him in a manger; because there was no room for them in the inn” (Luke 2:7)

Immediately entering Bethlehem, searching for a suitable room for Mary, Joseph frantically rushes to the front desk, only to hear those dreaded words, “There’s no room in the inn.”

“What do you mean, no room? Mary … is about to deliver her child …”

Feeling forlorn and defeated, Joseph turns to leave…

“Wait. I think I have a solution. It’s not much, but it’s warm and dry. And the trough would provide a resting place for the child…”

So, the King of Kings was born in a stable because there was no room for Him at the inn.

I’ve always thought the innkeeper was unfairly criticized because his Inn was full. While the scriptures don’t go into detail, the many families in Bethlehem paying taxes at once would explain why the Inn was full.

Although he couldn’t provide a room in the Inn, the innkeeper offered what he had—a stable.

How often does the enemy of our souls torment us with accusations such as, “You’re not doing enough?” or “Is that all you’re giving this Christmas?”

Are you plagued by thoughts such as “you need to do more!” making you feel uneasy and insufficient?

The Gospel of Mark tells of a woman judged for using ointment to prepare Jesus for burial. In her defense, Jesus said, “Let her be…she did her best.”

My friend, don’t allow your servant heart to be tainted by Satan’s lies. Man looks on the outside, but God sees your heart. Don't give in to peer pressure, pray about what God would have you do, and give it your best.

If what you’re doing is enough for Jesus, then it’s enough.
