MORE POWER THAN THE ENERGIZER BUNNY

ree

SCRIPTURE: “And in that day there shall be a Root of Jesse, Who shall stand as a banner to the people; For the Gentiles shall seek Him, And His resting place shall be glorious,” (Isaiah 11:10 NKJV).

Christmas is just two and a half weeks away! How is it going? Are you still thrilled, or has your excitement waned?

I usually celebrate to the fullest during the holidays. I didn't get to put up as many decorations this year, due to time constraints. But I am enjoying the lights on my trees (Yes, you read that correctly. Tree(s) I have four trees: three inside and one outside.)

Sometimes, our actions don't match our inner enthusiasm for the season. Reading today's scripture, the last part of verse ten rekindled my seasonal enthusiasm.

“And His rest shall be glorious.”

There’s no better way to rev up our spirit than taking our minds off our woes and relaxing in God's glorious presence. Next time you're feeling a little down, remember ...

In Christ, we have all we need: The Spirit of wisdom and understanding. The Spirit of counsel and might. The Spirit of knowledge and the fear of the LORD. (Isaiah 11:1-2 KJV)

When you sense something is missing in your life, I invite you to go to Jesus and draw from His heavenly resources. Remember:

There’s a new day coming.

Isaiah 11 reminds us that because of Jesus, there’s always a reason to hope.

  • The day is coming when He, who was born in the manger, will return on a white horse. Out of the sword of His mouth, He will strike the nations, and He will rule with a rod of iron. (Revelation 19:15).

  • Under the Lordship of Jesus Christ, the wolf will dwell with the lamb; the leopard shall lie down with the young goat.

  • Peace will, at last, dominate this restless world, and “His kingdom shall have no end.” (Luke 1:29-33)

The splendor of the Lord will shine forever.

“And His resting place shall be glorious” (Isaiah 11:10). Even when we’re facing troubles, we can be of good cheer because God’s eternal light is on the horizon, and we will reign with the LIGHT of the WORLD, forever and forever!

“And there shall be no night there, and they need no candle, neither light of the sun; for the Lord God giveth them light: and they shall reign forever and ever” (Revelation 22:5).

I don't know about you, but meditating on the hope of glory has refreshed my spirit. God's Word is mightier than the Energizer Bunny! And the Power of God keeps us going and going and going and going.

When you're feeling down, you can rise above it by reflecting upon God’s Promises. It certainly perked me up. I might even get that fifth tree decorated. (😊)

One of my four trees.

HAVE A HOLLY JOLLY CHRISTMAS

How do you "get in the spirit of Christmas?" Is it shopping, baking, sending cards, or decorating?

While your energy is flowing, perhaps now is the perfect time to bake cookies, wrap gifts, or address those Christmas cards.

To get in the spirit of Christmas I listen to old Michael W. Smith and Amy Grant Christmas albums. I love Amy's Heirlooms, Breath of Heaven and Oh Come All Ye Faithful. I have much to do this week, as most of us do, but I have to keep my eyes on the reason for the season and all will be well. I will be baking and hopefully shipping coconut bars today for my nephew's and their families in California and Hawaii and praying God be in the center of my day! Thanks for these devotionals Billie. They are an encouragement!🙂
